THE ATHEIST
He found the love of god
In the heart of man
In the darkest night
Where it all began
And there's one street lamp
Up on the farthest hill
He is walking faster
But time stands still
Now he's thinking of
New words for loneliness
Ones that he can control
Or could not care less about
The hour is early
It's way past late
Thinks of a lost soul mate
Nineteen eighty eight
There are so many roads to being lonely
But to happiness
Maybe two or three
What's this goddamn road
That we're walking on
So many roads
And I've tried every one
Is it a state of mind
Is it a distant shore
Is it an empty hall
An endless corridor
Is it this winding road
Is it that fallen tree
We watch the Autumn leaves
Floating silently
Is it satanic mills
And golden daffodils
Is it the steepest hill
As we stand still
Is the hour still early?
No it's way past late
All that wasted time
Nineteen eighty nine
There are so many roads to being lonely
But to happiness
Maybe two or three
What's this goddamn road
That we're walking on
So many roads
And I've tried every one
He found the love of time
With every second that passed
And never found true love
'Cause he didn't ask
But he found some truth
In every stopped clock
And now he hears his footsteps
Tick tock tick tock
And there's one hope left
Up on the farthest hill
Will it come to him
If he stands still
Is that love
If it's never enough
The lies that money can buy
Gone in a blink of an eye
Eye eye
There are so many roads to being lonely
But to peace and love
And all that stuff
Maybe two or three
What's this goddamn timeline
We're all struggling along
Till we all collide
Like a large hadron.
There are so many roads to being lonely
But to happiness
Maybe two or three
What's this goddamn road
I've been walking on
So many roads
And I've tried every one
There's a seagull flying
In a lightening sky
It's distant cry
A long lost lullaby
There's a red robin
In the garden
Is it the same one
He saw when he was young?
