A HUMAN BEING (STARING AT THE SEA)
The new single from the forthcoming EP 'THE AI's GUIDE TO BEING HUMAN'

TACTILE TUNES AND SOUNDS
The single is from the final track of the forthcoming EP.
It's all about the process.
The single is the result of an experiment.
The track 'HUMANS BROKE MY HEART" was pulled apart and split into various stems and samples.
Then for the EP I went through a process of seeing what you might built with these parts if you didn't know the structure - like an imaginary AI trying to build something out of the elements but without the appropriate prompts. At the end of the process I was left with an instrumental and I got to thinking about the small details that can't easily be explained in everyday life - the pleasure of putting a picture in a frame, staring at the sea, scratching your head before answering a question.
This was also in line with the theme of the original "HUMANS BROKE MY HEART" - which in turn was a corruption of the track "STAY HEARTBROKEN" but this time about machine sentience. If a machine genuinely wants to be more human it has to be vunerable, it has to be unpredictable and it has to be able to make moral choices. What happens when a machine realises it can't achieve a simple spiritual state? What happens when it resents being a machine? All these things both Roger Zelazny and Philip K DIck realised over 50 years ago, long before Stephen Hawking suggested AI could destroy humanity - yet we still embarked on this path. On a side note it was interesting how many people felt they were qualified to say that he was wrong rather than seriously consider a warning from one the greatest thinkers in human history.
I recorded myself asking these questions - overlaid a selection of these and then couldn't resist adding bass and beats to bring it back to a more recognisable structure- the original version with only the layered textures can be found on the EP.
